Financial services runs on trust. Without it, there is no licence to operate.

28 August 2026

Reputation is what happens to that trust over time, built through what an organisation says, but far more importantly, through what it does. So perhaps it shouldn’t surprise anyone that – at the very least - 27.1% of US financial services market value, some $1.16 trillion, is directly attributable to reputation.

Yet reputation is still too often measured through coverage, sentiment and dashboards rather than value, risk and business outcomes.

In Echo’s interview with Financial Narrative, we explore why that needs to change:

  • What is reputation actually worth – at a minimum?
  • What creates or destroys that value?
  • Why does reputation still struggle to reach the board agenda?
  • And in an AI-saturated world, could credibility itself become an increasingly scarce and valuable asset?

Our central argument is simple: Reputation is an enterprise performance metric. And if we can measure it, we can manage it, and make much better decisions about how to support and resource fundamental trust-building strategies and actions.

Watch the interview to discover how financial services leaders can better understand, manage and protect the value of their reputation.
