At Anthropy26, bringing together more than 2,200 influential UK leaders across business, government, non-profits, academia and civil society, Echo Research partnered with the London Stock Exchange Group to convene a high-level panel on The Role of Reputation and Trust in National Prosperity.
Set within a programme of 230+ sessions focused on shaping a more sustainable, equitable and united UK, the discussion explored a defining shift in modern leadership: trust is no longer an abstract concept, but a core economic asset. Launching Echo’s latest research, which shows that £841bn of FTSE 350 shareholder value is driven by reputation, panelists examined how trust underpins long-term performance, resilience and growth.
The conversation brought together perspectives from capital markets, business, and social impact to challenge traditional measures of success. From the role of investors in rewarding long-term value, to the importance of societal legitimacy and leadership credibility, the panel highlighted the need to move beyond short-term metrics toward building institutions that deliver both prosperity and public trust.
As expectations of business continue to evolve, the discussion reinforced a clear message: the organisations best positioned for the future will be those that treat trust not as a communications challenge, but as a strategic priority, earned consistently over time and embedded at the heart of decision-making.
